Janet Carpenter grew up in Ohio where she graduated from Bowling Green State University with a Bachelor of Music Education Degree and Masters of Music Performance Degree. Her primary teachers included Dr. Pat Flowers, Dr. John Bentley, and occasional lessons with John Mack, and with Valarie Anderson. She has also attended and participated at John Mack’s Oboe Camp, and attends The International Double Reed Society Conferences.
Janet has taught in public and private schools and currently teaches oboe at Davidson College, in addition to maintaining a private home studio. She also plays freelance in the Metrolina area.
She has published an article in The Double Reed Journal as well as published a modern edition of Johann Kalliwoda’s Serenade for Winds and Guitar available from Southern Music Company.
